Sarah Hyland Is Getting a Butt Tattoo Removed, and It Looks Pretty Painful

Sarah Hyland has several tattoos, most of which are delicate, black symbols or lettering on areas like her ribcage and spine. One, however, arguably stands out from the rest: a cartoonish, purple tyrannosaurus rex on her right butt cheek. And while she first showed it to fans only two years ago, it appears she may already be tired of it.

Hyland, who has frequently been very candid on her Instagram Stories, used the platform to share that she was visiting registered nurse Jamie Sherrill, known as Nurse Jamie at her Los Angeles medspa. "Actual reaction to some laser tattoo removal @nursejamiela 😂," she wrote. In the brief front-facing video, we get a closeup o f Hyland&aposs face, partially covered in black safety goggles — but even though her eyes are covered, we can see from her furrowed brow and the shapes her mouth makes just how uncomfortable the process can be.

You can hear a little beep just before the camera shakes from the Modern Family actor being startled by the pain of the laser. "Oof! That hurts," Hyland says. Sherrill asks, "Spicy?" And Hyland confirms in a pained but good-spirited voice, "Spicy!"

Although it&aposs not confirmed that it&aposs Hyland&aposs dinosaur tattoo that&aposs being removed, it seems like the most likely target based on where Sherrill is aiming the laser. And unfortunately for Hyland, she will very likely have to aim the laser there again, as it can take several sessions to fully break up and, thus, remove the pigment. "The focus of the laser treatment is to disintegrate the ink particles of the tattoo," says dermatologist Paul Jarrod Frank has previously told Allure. "A high-intensity light beam is targeted at the pigmentation, causing it to break apart, become absorbed into the body, and be excreted through the body&aposs natural immune system."

Hopefully, Hyland will consider sharing the results of her removal with fans — and invite us along for any additional documentation of the process.

DA’s Office Removes Gang-Related Tattoos For Free

a man holding a gun © San Diego County District Attorney's Office

The San Diego County District Attorney (DA)'s Office is removing tattoos for people who are looking for a fresh start in life – and in their appearance.

The DA's free laser tattoo removal program started a year ago and helps people remove unwanted tattoos that are gang or human trafficking-related.

"I paroled maybe 3 years ago. So, for the first 2 years, it was a struggle for me because I was no longer that gang member," said Manuel Chavez, tattoo removal participant.

Manuel spent 22 years in prison and wanted to put the past behind him, but his gang tattoos made that new transition tough.

"I left that life in prison and I was given a fresh opportunity to be a man, a responsible man and I was working and I'm paying my bills. But, I was still stuck with those tattoos and just felt like it was a daily reminder of who I used to be, and if you didn't know me that's probably who you thought I was," said Chavez.

Chavez heard about the DA's tattoo removal program in December 2018 through the organization, Rise Up Industries.

He immediately signed up to get his four gang tattoos removed. Today, one is completely gone and his other three have been lightened.

"When I meet people, whether it's at church or family members or new friends when we go out –it's kind of refreshing and it makes me feel good to know that they don't know who I am or who I was. They know who I am now that I share that with them but they don't know who I was, unless I share that with them. It's a total blessing to me. I'm so glad the District Attorney's office reached out and presented this golden opportunity to Rise Up Industries," said Chavez.

For the San Diego County District Attorney's Office, the idea for the tattoo removal program was sparked after the DA's office talked to people released from custody. Many voiced similar concerns about their past tattoos.

"They were struggling with the reminders that the tattoos presented. They would be struggling whether it was physical, someone looking at them and instead of looking in their eyes, looking at their tattoos—while they were applying for a job or taking the bus, walking down the beach, just trying to move ahead," said Shawnalyse Ochoa, Deputy DA, Assistant Division Chief of Juvenile Branch.

The program not only works to removes tattoos but also serves as a way for the DA's office to connect with the participants through the series of treatments needed to remove the tattoos.

"We're making quite an investment in these individuals, that we really believe in them, that they have truly turned the corner and make a complete transition back into being a productive citizen and part of our community. I love that we get to see them every six weeks and reconnect 'How are you doing?,' 'How's the job hunt going?,' 'How's your progress?,' 'How do you feel in your trading school,?' and we just keep talking in that relationship-building ---and they feel the support," said Ochoa.

You can find more information on the program, here.

  • The South Australian woman said the tattoo means she doesn't feel professional
  • She believes having laser treatment to remove will help restore her confidence
  • A young woman has revealed how a face tattoo has ruined her confidence and left her struggling to find a job.

Bailey Boin, from South Australia, has an outline of a black butterfly tattooed above her left eyebrow - a visible ink she said she got because she once wanted to 'st and out'.

And while she has received plenty of attention for her facial marking, it is a type of recognition that comes with challenges.

'I don't have the confidence to look for a job because I don't feel like I am being taken seriously,' Ms Boin told Today Tonight.

    Scroll down for video

Bailey Boin from South Australia (pictured) has revealed how a face tattoo has left her feeling less confident and prevented her from wanting to apply for work

Ms Boin said while there was a time in her life when she loved the attention the tattoo gave her, she now wants nothing more than to 'blend in'.

'I get attention everywhere I go, whether it's ordering food, or being asked about it, being asked if I regret it, being asked if I am employed' she said.

She said her tatt oo has become a liability because it means people see her in a certain way and she can't present herself as a professional when she applies for jobs.

Tattoo regret isn't uncommon with research by McCrindle revealing a third of Australians don't like their ink - and one in 10 have looked into removal processes.

Ms Boin said her tattoo has become a liability because it means people see her in a certain way and she can't present herself as a professional when she applies for jobs

Rather than resign herself to living with a decision that has impacted her future, Ms Boin has decided to get her tattoo removed.

She's signed up for treatment with a South Australian tattoo removal business, LaserTat, who have launched an initiative offering free tattoo removal.

Fresh Start - the first service of its kind in Australia - covers the cos t of removing an unwanted tattoo, an expense which can range from $500 to $8,000.

Tattoos in Australia - the statistics:

    * Research by McCrindle Australia revealed of 1,013 Australians questioned 1 in 5 (20%) individuals have one or more tattoos. This is up from 19% in 2016.

    * While most Australians with a tattoo got their first between the ages of 18 and 25 (51%), over a third (36%) of people got their first tattoo when aged 26 or older.

    * Women are getting their first tattoo later in life than men. 16% of women were over the age of 36 when they first got their tattoo, compared to 9% of men.

    * Three in five inked Australians have more than one tattoo (61%), while two in five (39%) currently have just one. A third (32%) have two to three tattoos and 14% have more than six.

    * Women are more likely than men to have j ust one tattoo (42% compared to 36%), while men are more likely than women to have two to three tattoos (38% compared to 27%).

    * Three in ten (31%) Australians with tattoos say that they regret, to some extent, getting a tattoo. Almost one in ten (9%) have commenced or looked into tattoo removal.

Ms Boin is currently undergoing treatment to have her face tattoo removed under an initiative launched by a South Australian tattoo removal business

According to Amanda McKinnon of LaserTat, the business heading up the initiative, its an opportunity to help the community - and assist people 'who want to move forward'.

'Tattoos can be a painful reminder of a life that one desires to leave behind,' reads a statement on LaserTat's site.

'Removing unwanted tattoos can be a major step forward during the recovery process and can help restore dignity, self-esteem and self-worth.'

Medical Aesthetics Market Size, Share, Industry Growth and Global Trends by 2026 | Fortune Business Insights

The Global Medical Aesthetics Market is slated to rise at a steady pace on account of increasing disposable incomes and growing awareness of medical procedures. The findings have been shared by Fortune Business Insights in its report, titled "Medical Aesthetics Market Size, Share and Global Trend By Product (Facial Aesthetic Products, Body Contouring Devices, Cosmetic Implants, Skin Aesthetic Devices, Physician-Dispensed Eyelash Products, Hair Removal Devices, Tattoo Removal Devices, Thread Lift Products, Nail Treatment Laser Devices), By End User (Hospitals, Specialty Clinics, Others), and Geography Forecast till 2026".

List of Companies mentioned in the research report are:

  • Alma Lasers
  • Johnson & Johnson Services
  • Allergan
  • Solta Medicals
  • The report gives information about medical aesthetics, the procedures it involves, and the nature of these procedures. Medical aesthetics is an umbrella term used to describe surgical and non-surgical procedures of cosmetic enhancement. These procedures are applied to treat conditions such as moles, unwanted hair, scars, spider veins, liver spots and many more. Within these procedures are specializations in the form of plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and dermatology.

And Yet Complications in the Medical Procedures Likely to Encumber the Rise of the Medical Aesthetics Market

Inherent complications in the medical procedures prove to be the major obstacles for the global medical aesthetics market to grow and develop. Complications can include bleeding, scars, and infections, to name a few. Compounded to this are the taboos, ethical judgments, and general distrust towards western cosmetic treatments, especially in developing and underdeveloped countries of the east. Overcoming these hurdles will prove to be a major challenge for this emerging market.

North America and Europe to Lead the Market

North America and Europe are expected to hold the lion's share in the global medical aesthetics market in the forecast period. The North American market, in particular, is set to grow the fastest owing to increased private investments in developing minimally invasive surgical instruments and technologies, and growing demand for minimally invasive surgeries.  Asia-Pacific is another major region where the global medical aesthetics market will witness positive growth in the coming decade. This will primarily take place as a consequence of increasing disposable incomes, and rising populations.

Raising Awareness about Nature of Medical Procedures to Drive the Medical Aesthetics Market

According to the report, the global medical aesthetics market is poised to grow during the forecast period as a result of increasing mindfulness about the virtually non-invasive nature of the surgeries involved. These surgeries differ from traditional surgeries. For example, a minimally invasive plastic surgery typically involves use of a laser that can quickly remove the outer layer of the skin.

Moreover, such surgeries normally have less recovery time, which has only pumped up their demand in the global medical aesthetics market. Besides these factors, increasing level of disposable income, particularly in developing countries, has and will continue to fuel the market in the forecast period.

Another notable driver of the global medical aesthetics market is the growing concern among people about their looks as they age. Cosmetic surgeries and procedures seem to feed their psychological needs to "look young" or "look beautiful", in the hope of improving their quality of life. Even though such surgeries are costly, people are ready to spend on them. A report by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons revealing that, in America, approximately $ 16 billion were spent on cosmetic procedures in 2016 substantiates this fact.

    The Environment is Competitive Already

Competition among the major players in the global medical aesthetics market is already fierce as each competitor looks to gain a competitive edge. This is mainly done through greater investment in research and innovation, diversifying product portfolios, and regular product launches. Allergan PLC already has a significant market presence with its landmark wrinkle-reducing neurotoxin, Botox. Similar efforts have been put in by companies like Merz Pharmaceuticals GMBH and Galderma SA to develop products for doctors who want to capitalize on the growing demand for non-invasive beautification surgeries.
