6ix9ine Will Need To Pay To Remove His Face Tattoos If Placed In Witness Protection

Tekashi 6ix9ine created a calculated plan to become famous and much of it centered around his social media behavior and his in-your-face appearance. The 23-year-old rapper has multicolor hair, tattoos all over his face, and a number of "69" markings on his arms. Shock value has always been a huge part of 6ix9ine's brand and it worked for him in music. Now that he may not be able to continue his life as a professional recording artist, the star, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, will likely need to be placed in witness protection if he makes it out of jail after snitching. A new report by Uproxx reads that if he is indeed placed in protective services, he will need to take money out of his own pocket to have his tattoos removed.

A breakdown of the trial in the New York Times notes that witness protection is still an option to the controversial young singer but he will need to take care of his heavily-tattooed face and arms if he wants a chance of that happening. "Prosecutors have indicated he could enter the witness protection program," writes the report before specifying that it is unlikely his tattoo removal would be paid for. "It is unlikely the United States Marshals Service, which runs the witness protection program, would pay for the removal of Mr. Hernandez's signature face tattoos."

What do you think he will look like without his trademark tats on his visage?

6ix9ine's Tattoo Removal Would Take Over A Year To Complete, Specialist Says

Tekashi 6ix9ine took the stand last week, ratting on everyone in his camp in what could be perceived as his final troll. Cooperating with the government meant that there would be some sort of leniency in his sentencing and it seems like he could get out as early next 2020. Between the face tattoos and the rainbow hair, it's kinda hard to miss the guy. The hair could be fixed but according to a tattoo removal specialist, it's going to take him a minimum of one year to remove the tattoos from his body.

Complex spoke to Flash Lab Laser Suite founder and owner Kelly Rheel who detailed the process behind tattoo removal surgery. For one, she said the rapper's best choice is to go through with PicoSure laser tattoo removal. It's known to be the most effective method of tattoo removal among experts. There are a few problems that come with this, though. For one, Rheel estimated the process of removing all of the tattoos on his body would cost around $100K - $150K. Secondly, the process is one-year minimum so going into the Witness Protection Program might not even be all that helpful.

"You're looking at a year-long process, minimum. That's why a witness protection program for this gentleman might be a little tricky, unless he gets a really good concealer. Plenty of dancers and models get really great makeup that covers up their tattoos while they're undergoing removal," Kelly said.

She continued to explain that things wouldn't be pretty for him during the process of getting the removal, as well.

"It's going to look like he's got the plague," she said. "You look like you're infected. You're red, you're itchy, inflamed, blistered. Lasers are no joke."

Rise in unlicensed tattoo artists in Tasmania leaves customers at risk

Laura Kennedy got her first tattoo in Sydney when she was 21.

Key points:
  • Launceston has about 20 registered tattoo and piercing studios, and nine of them have been found in breach of the Public Health Act
  • The issues were considered minor, but public health experts warn the consequences can be severe
  • Tattoo-removal businesses are also opening up as more studios open their doors and unlicensed artists crop up
  • The Hobart woman asked for the outline of a rectangle on her wrist. When they started filling it in, she panicked.

"I said, 'Stop, this isn't going to work'," Ms Kennedy said.

"He goes, 'Oh, I've got this bright idea, which is I'm going to take the ink out of the gun and go over it three or four times, and that'll take the ink out'.

"It did, but it also took all of my skin away."

Ms Kennedy eventually had that tattoo covered up, but that was botched too.

She is now having the cover-up lightened at Tasmania's first dedicated laser-tattoo-removal studio.

Ms Kennedy wants her wrist tattooed again with artwork of a rhinoceros beetle and blueberries — a reference to her fight with brain cancer.

"Before I had brain cancer treatment I hated blueberries with the fire of 1,000 suns, then afterwards I thought they were quite nice and I eat them every day now," she said.

Tattoo-removal business owner Jorja Threlfall, who is treating Ms Kennedy's tattoo, said she was partly inspired to open her Hobart business because of an increase in the number of tattoo artists around Tasmania — including those without a licence.

"You can buy a tattoo gun on eBay for $150, so anyone can buy a tattoo gun," Ms Threlfall said.

"Some of the things you see, where they've pulled it out at a friend's party and decided to tattoo themselves, it's not the best quality."

She said a bad tattoo could affect a person's self esteem.

"Some people it really, really affects them … it can be a big relief when they start to get a few treatments and they see it's starting to fade."

    Regulation left to local councils

Tattoo and piercing studios are flourishing around Tasmania.

Councils are charged with inspecting the sites to ensure they comply with the Public Health Act.

Among the state's four major cities, only Launceston reported issues of non-compliance, with nine of 17 studios inspected breaching the law.

Environmental health officer Erica McCarthy said the issues related to cleanliness.

"It's just making sure they're in clean condition and good working order in terms of the surfaces that customers might be in contact with, and to reduce and risk of infection to the customers and to the operators," Ms McCarthy said.

"A lot of the procedures are skin penetration, so it's opening the body's surface to any germs and grime getting in which can cause an infection.

"If a premises is dirty and isn't maintained it makes it hard to clean any spills or bodily fluids.

"Hepatitis is a big one in those industries."

Studios that fail to comply with directions can be prosecuted.

"We haven't seen anything that requires that type of action, which is great," Ms McCarthy said.

"With minor non-compliance we often give a written direction getting them to make those directions so everyone is kept safe."

    'You can't hide it'

Hobart tattoo artist Benny Blackbird said he took up to 15 minutes to set up a safe environment for his customers.

There are gloves, cleaning fluids, new needles and plastic wrapped around equipment — and all of them can be changed multiple times during a single tattoo.

"We're not setting up a sterile field, that's impossible … what we're doing is minimising the chance of any contaminants going into your open wound," Mr Blackbird said.

"It's the idea of no infections, no nasties introduced to an open wound."

Laura Kennedy had one piece of advice for people considering getting a tattoo.

"One recommendation I'd say to … people is don't get your first tattoo on your wrist, because if for some reason it's bad, you can't really hide it," she said.

Tekashi 6ix9ine face tattoo removal is on him for witness protection option

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine might have to pay for his own face tattoo removal if he wants to be a part of the witness protection program after his recent court testimony.

The rapper, real name Daniel Hernndez, testified in Manhattan Federal Court last week. It was in a trial against two members of the Nine Trey Bloods gang.

Read more: We Came As Romans might be dropping two new songs this week

The trial was for Anthon "Harv" Ellson and Aljermiah "Nuke" Mack, who are facing federal racketeering and firearms charges. Ellson is also being tried for allegedly kidnapping and beating Tekashi 6ix9ine last year.

The rapper testified against the gang members as he currently faces a minimum of 47 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and many other charges earlier this year. His cooperation could help him lobby for a shorter sentence. He will likely be sentenced January 2020.

The New York Times is reporting that the rapper could enter the eye witness protection program and could become a brand new person despite his fame. This is because of possible death threats he has against him for giving the court valuable information about the gang.

"I knew I was going to become a target," Tekashi 6ix9ine said in court. "I knew they were going to try and hurt me."

Former FBI official Jay Kramer told the NYT that it's very possible for him to become a normal person after this.

"Despite how connected we are, and the appetite for social media content in this country, there are places where, if this kid gets a haircut and wears normal clothes, no one would know or care who he is," Kramer said.

Read more: Carousel Kings revealed as support for fall McCafferty, guardin tour

The report also says the program will do many things to change his look so he can go incognito. However, to get rid of his signature face tattoos, the rapper would likely have to pay for that himself. Most notably, the gigantic "69" tattoo he has on his face would likely have to go for the program to work successfully.

Tattoo removal can cost hundreds of dollars a session, with recipients often needing multiple sessions for total removal. Therefore, it could cost the rapper a lot of money out of pocket if he chooses to enter the program.

What do you think of Tekashi 6ix9ine possibly needing to pay for his own tattoo removal? Sound off in the comments down below and let us know!

Liam Payne ‘really regretted’ the tattoo that inspired his Hugo Boss line

Liam Payne's Hugo Boss collection may be covered in chevrons, but the musician once considered the ink that inspired the motif a major mistake.

"The funniest thing about this situation is that when I got the tattoo when I was maybe 19, I woke up in the morning — I was heavily drunk when I got it — and my arm was really hurting, and I looked down and was like, 'What the hell have I done?'" the "Stack It Up" singer, 26, told Page Six Style at a party celebrating his collaboration at the Bloomingdale's 59th Street flagship on Thursday.

"I was literally still in bed Googling 'tattoo removal.' I really regretted it for a while — but I don't know, with tattoos over time, I find that they just become part of you. And then when I got to the [Hugo Boss] meeting and they were showing me designs and drawings, I only saw one thing, and was like, that's it."

The result? A capsule of T-shirts, trousers, sweatshirts and sneakers splashed with the graphic, which stands in for Payne's own signature. "I didn't want to be one of those people who plasters their name on everything," he explained. "I wanted to make clothes that were so good that people who didn't know me would buy them anyway."

Payne has come a long way since his One Direction days, with both a solo career and a son (2-year-old Bear, whom he shares with ex Cheryl Cole). He's also got a decidedly grown-up underwear campaign for Hugo on the way; fans were treated to a steamy preview earlier this week, courtesy of photographers Mert & Marcus.

Before stripping down to his skivvies for the "quite raunchy" shots, Payne consulted with underwear-model icon Mark Wahlberg, whose 1992 Calvin Klein campaign (and intense workout regimen) is the stuff of legend. "I even went in and trained with him," the singer said. "The training part was a proper drag — can't eat this, can't eat that. But it was nice putting myself through that challenge, going into the gym with a motive."

And while he may have plenty of connections in the style industry — including British Vogue EIC Edward Enninful and Dior menswear designer Kim Jones, not to mention his new model girlfriend Maya Henry — Payne said that his lack of design expertise has actually worked in his favor when it comes to creating his collection.

"When I ask questions [in Hugo meetings], I'm not asking them from a fashion-school kind of place; I'm not thinking about seams on jeans or things like that. But it works! Being 'fashion stupid' is working really well for me," he said with a laugh.

Inmates getting a cut rate for tattoo removals

The Government won't be reviving a tattoo removal scheme in prisons, thanks to generous businesses.

A taxpayer-funded scheme was scrapped in 2006, after public outcry over the expensive removal of a violent white supremacist's tattoo.

The Government sought advice last year on how a scheme might work.

But tattoo removalists are now voluntarily subsidising services at some prisons — and Corrections hopes to expand that throughout the country.

Speaking exclusively to Newstalk ZB, Corrections Minister Kelvin Davis said it was wonderful: "We're happy with what's happening now, that each prison has their own regime, they work with local providers, those local providers will provide a subsidy out of the goodness of their hearts."

A briefing to Davis in May said many people in Corrections' care had highly offensive tattoos; of particular concern were those on the face, including full-face "war masks".

It also talked about the risk of infection and gang influence from in-prison tattooing.

"We know that having some tattoos, particularly on your face, particularly gang-related, or on your arms where they're visible, may be a barrier to achieving work," Davis said.

"We think it's appropriate that there is an opportunity for prisoners — if they wish — to have these tattoos removed, and help them reintegrate back into society and hopefully into work."

Davis was grateful to businesses for charging inmates as little as one sixth of the market rate. He had seen reports of one session usually costing as much as $300 — but prisoners were charged about $50 per session.

Davis also spoke of the importance of prisoners paying for it and his hope they'd be less likely to get more tattoos.

"For a prisoner to come up with $50 a session is a lot of money for them, and it just means — excuse the pun — they've got skin in the game."

Corrections says removing a tattoo can take six to eight sessions, and up to six weeks between sessions, meaning the process can take a year.

Prison directors have been advised to develop tattoo prevention plans, as part of a wider gang management strategy.

And work is under way to educate prisoners about the risk of contracting diseases such as HIV and hepatitis through unhygienic tattooing.

Corrections says prisons provide administrative support to local tattoo removalists who subsidise their services, and such partnerships are being developed across the prison network.

As of February 1, tattoo-removal programmes were active at Auckland Prison, Auckland South Corrections Facility, Spring Hill Corrections Facility and Waikeria Prison.

Programmes were being developed at Hawke's Bay, Invercargill and Whanganui Prisons, and Otago Corrections Facility. Talks were under way at four other sites.
